How Safe Are MAZDA Cars?

February 6th, 2024 by

Safety is one of the primary factors for car buyers, especially for those driving with their family in tow. How exactly safe are Mazda cars? Learn about the manufacturer’s suite of innovative safety technology and the safety awards accumulated over the years at Superior Mazda.

Safety Technology

The Mazda brand is renowned for the i-ACTIVSENSE®, an impressive suite of safety technology. With it comes a number of features that come standard and are available.

What’s standard varies depending on the model and trim. Examples of safety features include the Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Rear Vehicle Monitoring System, and the Lane Departure Warning System to list a few.

Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)

The Mazda brand has also invested extensively in ITS. This is a project in collaboration with government entities and automobile associations to develop more innovative safety solutions.  ITS includes the use of radar and sensors to monitor the road at a 360-degree angle and scan for potential road hazards beyond what the human eye can detect.

Safety Awards

In 2023, every Mazda vehicle tested earned an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) award, including the association’s highly acclaimed Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ awards. This is especially impressive considering IIHS revamped its test procedures and imposed more strict requirements for passing.

Please note that the above safety awards and safety technology are in no way a substitute for safe and alert driving. As always, keep both hands on the wheel and refrain from activities that can take your eyes off the road, such as eating, receiving a call, or putting on makeup.
