Below the hood of the Mazda CX-9 is a 2.5-liter Inline-four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, and i-ACTIV AWD® comes standard with this powertrain. The Mazda CX-90 is a hybrid and comes with a 3.3-liter turbo inline-six-cylinder engine paired to a 17.8 kWh battery. A PHEV variant is also available.

Exterior Design

The Mazda CX-9 has retained a classic appearance that has remained largely unchanged since the model’s debut in 2016. It has the brand’s signature horizontal chrome grille with a chrome strip just below the bumper. The side profile is on par with that of a family crossover, and the chrome strips on the roof rails provide an additional elegant touch.

The Mazda CX-90 has a similar design albeit with an updated body, notably between the front axle and dashboard.

Dimensions

The Mazda CX-90 has slightly larger dimensions than the Mazda CX-9. The Mazda CX-90 and Mazda CX-9 have a length of 200.8 inches and 199.8 inches, and a width of 78.5 inches and 77.5 inches, respectively. Both have identical 3,500-lb max towing capacities.
