The next-generation MAZDA2 is so popular that it's already on backorder. It hasn't even finished rolling off assembly lines in Japan, and the new model already has over six thousand pre-orders. You can find the new next-gen Mazda at local dealers like Superior Mazda - 2600 SE Moberly Lane Bentonville, AR.
Known as the "Demio" in Japan, Mazda said since June 9 it has received 6,500 orders for the car, "equivalent to 108 percent of the monthly sales target of 6,000 vehicles," according to Reuters.1
Mazda also has a lofty goal to "improve fuel economy on its cars by 30 percent by 2015 compared with 2008 levels." This will include the introduction of their "SKYACTIV" engine and transmission technology on all its cars by 2016. It plans to build on its current technologies to eventually develop hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric cars.2
According to the Japanese automaker last Octobe, pricing for the MAZDA2 starts at $14,240 and hits an astonishing 70 mpg.
Mazda CEO Takashi Yamanouchi had promised MAZDA2 would be priced lower than any rival hybrid the competition has to offer in that segment.
